Communications Room Talk #01: Great leadership is about great communication

Hartmut Hübner & Mark Derbacher Season 1 Episode 1

In 2023 more than ever before, the ability to communicate effectively will be crucial in addressing some of the major challenges facing Europe:
1️⃣ Economic challenges: In 2023, the ongoing energy crisis and inflation are likely to reduce consumption. These challenges require collaboration among companies and between businesses and customers to find sustainable and innovative solutions. Effective communication plays a critical role in fostering this collaboration and co-creation.
2️⃣ Political challenges: Europe also faces political challenges, including the need for closer dialogue between politicians and businesses and the need to better incorporate the views and concerns of Generation Z to inject positive momentum into the climate fight. Effective communication is essential to find common ground and new perspectives between different groups and generations.
3️⃣ Social challenges: In 2023, we will also have to resolve growing tensions and polarization within society. These challenges require all of us to take a step back and open ourselves to generative listening in order to find common ground and build a more cohesive and stable society.
All these challenges are communicative in the truest sense of the word. To solve them, we need to develop a new understanding and quality of communication – one that includes sensemaking, based on values that are taken serious in a way triggering motivation. The ability to communicate effectively is an essential prerequisite for building trust and cooperation in companies, in politics and in society as a whole.
🚀 In a positive sense, it is fair to say that 2023 represents a unique opportunity for us to harness the power of communication to promote economic success, political stability and social cohesion. Let's all seize the opportunity to make 2023 the year of communication by engaging in more productive and generative conversations!
